Who am I voting for?

Who am I voting for?

Elections have become choosing between a lesser of two evils; who is going to hurt the country the least? This mentality desecrates the ideals men like Thomas Jefferson, Benjamin Franklin, George Washington, and Abraham Lincoln stood upon. These men desired to give an opportunity to each citizen for a better life, a chance to create their own success. Unfortunately, our government today penalizes success and laughs at the idea of rewards based on merit. It is time for a president to stop spouting politically correct propaganda to get into power.

So who do I want to vote for? I want to vote for a man who will voluntarily step down from power, I want to vote for a man who says something is wrong and fights for what is right, I want to vote for a man who refuses the idea of social entitlements. Where did men like this go? They evaporated in the political heat of correctness. No one in this nation wants to offend anyone else. No one wants to stand upon absolutes. Everything is relevant in politics today. Everywhere in the world there are absolutes. Nature is built upon them, men once fought for them, and now governments mock them. There are absolutes in the world, there are absolutes in this nation, but they are being discarded at the expense of our country. To stand strong in today’s world we need a leader who will stand up for America. I want a president who will stand up and say terrorism is a threat to America’s foundation, that it will not be tolerated and will do everything in my power to cease it. I want conviction in their voice, I want to know they believe in America and the goodness of its people. I do not want a president who spends more on the unconstitutional pursuit of education than on national defense. I want a president who will take a firm stand against those who do not support us. I do not want a president who caters to the needs of other nations against ours. We do not live in a politically correct world. We live in a world where societies are raised to hate us, to despise us, and to kill everything which makes our nation great. How can we stand as a light unto the world when we refuse to ignite the wick of truth? How can a nation consult others which are not harmed by our enemies, which are not threatened by our threats, which do not hold the values and principles we treasure? We have a right to protect our nation, our values, our way of life. We have a right to fight. Why should we consult nations which hate us? I will vote for the man which stands upon our Constitution and does not bend it towards his will. I will vote for a man who has conviction in his voice. I will vote for a man which is concerned about being the best, not the elected. I will vote for a man who looks at Washington, Jefferson, Lincoln and Reagan and says, “I will do better.” I refuse to vote for anybody who does not wish to stand upon values and absolutes, who aims to please and not protect, who desecrates the legacy of our great leaders. I want the American people to exercise their right to vote, to stop laying down for the minority groups for fear of being labeled “politically incorrect.” It is time for our nation to elect someone who is looking to promote the United States, not play lame duck and hope the world smiles upon us as our doom lies above our head. Today’s citizens face unparallel threats to our life, our liberty and our pursuit of happiness, and it is time they take their opportunity and change the course this nation is on. I will exercise my vote to do this.

Dear Congressman

Dear Mr. Congressman,

How long has it been since you have read a letter from a constituent? How long has it been since you took the time to personally respond to a letter? The intern who read this before you and the staff assistant who will respond to this letter may never even tell you about the thoughts I am expressing. I know you’re a busy man, but how often do you sit down and read the opinions of those who elected you? Do those opinions go into your voting decision? Are you too busy befriending those around you, logrolling bills to become more powerful in Congress?

Granted you cannot read all the mail, or take the opinions of a passionate minority when thinking of the dispassionate majority, but how dedicated are you to your district? Will you taint your honored office by pulling a William Jefferson, or just not store your money in your freezer? Or will you be a man of your people, meeting with Capitol tour groups, getting to know the names of your free labor interns, occasionally responding with a hand written letter to a hometown group about an issue? Are you more focused on lobbyist receptions, drinking in the “perks” of your office, or more concerned with being in your district, getting to know those who you represent?

I have spent time in Washington and know the many pitfalls you have to avoid, but in today’s politically correct, question dodging, fluff issue den that is politics, are you going to vote on behalf on the constituent, or for your own gain?

I respect the work you have done to achieve what you have, but I ask that interns and staffers aren’t the only ones who read the mail, respond to the letters, or answer the phones. I hope you do not only take calls from influential businessmen and lobbyists, but from the people who matter, not just those who are beneficial. This letter is filled with questions, but also a charge that you draw upon the roots of our Republic and fulfill the obligation of representing the electoral, and not yourself.

Sincerely,

Scott Rozell

A Just War in Iraq

The concept of truth today is different than the concept 230 years ago. On the Machiavelli Hill of D.C. truth has been watered-down and distorted. In most cases today the areas are made gray by relativism and political correctness. To speak in terms of absolute truth is dangerous, it is hardly done. In the instance the media decides the truth is false, one’s political future and legacy are in serious jeopardy. Fortunately, President George W. Bush believes in the truths written by our founding fathers that man has certain unalienable rights. It is the truth that Saddam Hussein was oppressing the Iraqi people and raping them of their unalienable rights. Operation Iraqi Freedom is a just war, a war worth being fought.

The objective of Operation Iraqi Freedom was to remove Saddam from power and give the Iraqi people the opportunity to create a new, diplomatic government; the United States is a country of opportunity, right? Removing Saddam from power would eliminate support for terror organizations and his access to WMDs. We have recovered WMDs from Iraq and are expecting to find more.  Declassified excerpts from a National Ground Intelligence Report reports of Pre-Gulf War chemical munitions containing mustard and sarin nerve gas being recovered by coalition forces during Operation Iraqi Freedom. This is  a fact the mass media would like to ignore, and removed Saddam from power (http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,200499,00.html). Now we are in the midst of trying to complete the second objective, the more important objective. The military action is called Operation Iraqi Freedom, not Operation Get WMDs or Operation Son’s Revenge.

Don’t get me wrong, I’m not saying that Bush is infallible and made no mistakes, he did. Our government is slow to move, as it should be, and can pose many obstacles for military action, as it should. I believe many mistakes were made in the process from September 11, 2001 to March 20, 2003, but where are mistakes not made in any government or human action? However, despite the mistakes, the President stood for what he knows to be absolutely true. That military action was the only way to remove Saddam and give the Iraqi people the opportunity for democracy.

Never before in history has a nation been so blessed with prosperity as has the United States. Our Judeo-Christian society and government stands as a beacon of democracy, setting an example for the world. However, this prosperity comes with a Catch-22. The world wants the U.S. to serve its needs, but only by throwing money at the problem. As left wing Hollywood activists, like Clooney, Pitt, Bono, and Jolie proclaim the United States is selfish and the people don’t give the crumbs off their table (the American people give more to charity than any other entity on Earth), these activists fail to see the greatest gift our country gives, opportunity. American troops in Iraq are paying the ultimate price to give the Iraqi people opportunity at political and economic freedom. Left-wing “philanthropists” fail to see this, apparently. They denounce the war and the President. Where does this buck of blame stop, at the man courageous to give something greater than money, to say the war is right, justified in the truths of our founding.

Many say that we need to bring our troops home, that we need to remove our presence in Iraq. I wish that could be. Unfortunately, to secure the Iraqi people’s opportunity, our troops must stay. The unsung heroes of our nation secure the opportunity for the Iraqi people with honor, integrity, and pride. The word hero is used too lightly today. I mean hero as defenders of our freedom and truth. Those who volunteer to serve our country and its ideals. Those who do not get the credit they deserve. Hollywood glorifies tree-huggers and rehab clinics, singing of relativism. The troops in Iraq fight for absolutes and the foundations of our country yet are not praised as they should be and it’s a shame. If they leave now, all they have fought for will be lost to Islamic radical corruption and a new dictator will be installed.

It is not the responsibility of the United States to cure the world’s problems or overthrow every government which is not in line with ours. It is the right of the people to stand up for themselves, their obligation. But when the people are being murdered by the hundreds of thousands, when corruption and oppression run unchecked through a government, when a reign of terror is being orchestrated by a man hell bent on the destruction of the United States and Western culture, it is the responsibility of the United States to take action. We must defend our nation, we must defend our rights, and we must fight for the absolute truths our country was founded upon.
